We don't have all of this letter, but it's still fun to go sightseeing with Mama Margaret.

Atlanta Ga.
April 22.
Dear Alma,
I received your note with Grace’s letter enclosed. The other letter in care of Will has not been received. It was the same experience Kathleen had when she came from Woods Hole.
I waited and watched for a letter from her. Kathleen and I both wrote to Laura to come while I was here but said she could not spare the time, and insisted on my going to Canton. I have written to her that I would go and if I can get off will start Friday night. I may go to Staunton from Canton if it is not too expensive a trip. I am glad to go to Canton for a short visit, I will get my clothes fixed up a bit before I go to Staunton.
Tally has gone to his room in his house that he reserved when he rented the house. He wanted Elizabeth to go but she would not go. If he had been there I don’t think I would want to go.
I have been enjoying my visit very much. We have been out to see most of the sights including the Penitentiary. We have been out to see Agnes Scott College. It is a pretty place - well kept Campus. And a lovely drive all the way out. I think it is about fifteen miles to Decatur. Sunday we went to see Stone Mountain. We waited to see if Laura would come as they did not want to make the trip twice. It is certainly a big undertaking to carve it. The head of Gen. Lee can now be seen. Not all of the head - just the upper part the nose, eye and the hat. There was a big crowd out to see it as it was such a beautiful day. It will take several years to carve it.
The children were at a party last Saturday, at the house on east side of us. It was an Easter hunt (mixed) egg party. They all had a fine time. Kathleen made a birthday cake for Billy while they were all out. Will took me to see the Atlanta Memorial. It is quite a large building and has a Cyclorama of the battle of Atlanta. I didn’t remember the battle of Atlanta was such a big battle. We staid there a long time then looked at the sunken garden. It is very small but a good many pretty flowers. The woods parks are all beautiful here. There are so many dogwood blooms. The dogwoods in the south are much prettier than in the north.
The weather is very comfortable, I have not felt any heat yet. The children come home and complain of the heat. They don’t get home until almost two o’clock. I don’t believe in the one session. Billy doesn’t like school but he gets good reports. He did like the school in Cincinnati.
I hope you will have a good time while Clara is there and have the picnic.
I will now stop, as it will soon be time for the children to come to dinner.
We had a hard rain this morning. It was a regular pour down and unexpected so Will had to get out to put the little chicks in shelter. If you need any eggs you can send on the box, cut a corner off one of the corrugated so it can easily be taken out

1.
I have written to her that I would go and if I can get off will start Friday night.
April 22 was a Tuesday, so Friday night would be April 25. But Mama Margaret was still I Atlanta on the 27th:
1924-04-27 LETTER FROM MAMA MARGARET TO ALMA
so I guess she was talking about a week from Friday, I.e. May 4.
2.
I may go to Staunton from Canton if it is not too expensive a trip.
Staunton Ohio is in western Ohio, west of Columbus and north of Dayton. I don't know why Mama Margaret would go there.
3.
Tally has gone to his room in his house that he reserved with he rented the house. He wanted Elizabeth to go but she would not go.
There’s a mention of Tal and Elizabeth in another letter around this time, I think. I need to find it, because I don’t know who they are.
4.
We have been out to see Agnes Scott College. It is a pretty place - well kept Campus, and a lovely drive all the way out. I think it is about fifteen miles to Decatur.
Maggie later attended Agnes Scott College.
5.
Sunday we went to see Stone Mountain. We waited to see if Laura would come as they did not want to make the trip twice. It is certainly a big undertaking to carve it.
In 1924 the carving was barely begun.
6.
Will took me to see the Atlanta Memorial. It is quite a large building and has a Cyclorama of the battle of Atlanta.
My sister Ming and I went to the Cyclorama when we were in Atlanta in the late 1990s.
7.
I didn’t remember the battle of Atlanta was such a big battle.
It’s so easy to forget that Mama Margaret was sixteen years old when the Civil War started. And no, Atlanta was not one of the bigger battles of the Civil War.
8.
I hope you will have a good time while Clara is there and have the picnic.
Clara Jones must be visiting Alma. There's a Non-Family page for her. And I hope the picnic (whatever it was) happened.
9.
As Barbara noted on the scan, there is surely more to this letter. I doubt it will turn up.
