Here's the last of the four letters that Kathleen wrote to Will while he was dealing with Mama Margaret's death in Ohio. Like the previous letter, it ended up right back where it started.

No news Tues. am - I am so disappointed I thought you would write.
Monday
My dear Will -
I was glad to have your card about 9 this morning. I had already sent two letters to Mrs. Gere's for you. I know she will have forwarded them. I had one ready for the postman this am + redirected it from which you must have known that I had received your card. I had letters this morning from Mrs. Rastert, Miss Attee, Mrs. Gere + Mrs Kutz. Possibly you will see all these people in Cincinnati if you stop on the way home. Mrs. Rastert's letter was especially nice. I cannot but wish that she had been allowed to work unassisted. She wrote that Miss Attee had resorted to material means on the Monday. I do not think she ought to have done so, but she meant it for the best, of course, but I do think that this experience must make us even more faithful to Science.
I went over to Mrs. Passalaignes and Mrs. Lamberts and told them + they sent their sympathy. Mrs. Stevens rang up this morning. I also had letters from Savannah. They sent their love and sympathy to you. Kathleen is to go to Tybee with the Pape School picnic. Ruth is going to take her next Friday.
Mrs. Stevens is coming round tomorrow for some eggs. The little white bantam wants to sit again. She could find a nest in the garage, so she settled herself very comfortably in a box of mash. I put two reds in the broody coop tonight, but I was too tenderhearted to put in the bantam. She is such a dear little bird. I may even be tempted to give her some eggs.
I have written letters tonight to Mrs. Gere, Miss Attee, Mrs. Kutz + Mrs. Rastert. I have used up all my envelopes + must use P. Office envelopes, but they do very well. I am not going to mail this until I hear from you in the morning as I think I am sure to do.
Did you notice that the Aviators had been found? I felt very pleased over that. It seems quiet here especially after the children have gone to bed, but I keep busy all the time. I shall be glad when you make the new chicken pen, for the babies run around too much. They get on the front lawn and everywhere.
I must now write to others. Much love + I shall be glad to have you home but do not hurry on my account.
Kathleen

1.
I had letters this morning from Mrs. Rastert, Miss Attee, Mrs. Gere + Mrs Kutz.
Except for Mrs. Rastert, these women were mentioned in 1919 letters when Will in Cincinnati was writing to Kathleen in Savannah.
2.
Explanation: Mrs. Rastert was apparently a Christian Science practitioner - i.e. her job was to work through prayer to eliminate the Error that was causing Mama Margaret's ailment. Miss Attee brought in a doctor for Mama Margaret on Monday, May 6. And Kathleen disapproved.
Mama Margaret died on Wednesday, May 8.
I don't know when Mama Margaret arrived in Cincinnati. The last letter we have from her was written on April 27 in Atlanta. I think she probably left Atlanta quite soon after that, and, taking ill on the train, got off at Cincinnati and went to Miss Attee for help. Her death certificate says the cause of death was an intestinal blockage. It is quite possible that nothing could have been done to save her, even if a doctor had been brought in earlier. But we don't know that.
3.
Kathleen is to go to Tybee with the Pape School picnic.
Kay/Kathleen was staying with her Farmer grandparents in Savannah. Her Aunt Ruth Farmer, Kay's sister, worked at the Pape School.
Wikipedia says:
Tybee Island is a city and a barrier island located in Chatham County, Georgia, 18 miles (29 km) east of Savannah, United States.
4.
Did you notice that the Aviators had been found? I felt very pleased over that.
New York Times obituary 12/7/1992:
Col. Alva L. Harvey, a pioneer military aviator who survived 10 days in Alaska's wilderness after crashing on an around-the-world flight attempt in 1924, died Monday at Mount Vernon Hospital in Arlington, Va. He was 92 years old and lived in Arlington.
https://pioneersofflight.si.edu/content/crash-seattle
Flight commander Frederick Martin and Alva Harvey crashed the Seattle on a mountainside near Point Moller, Alaska, on April 30. Both survived, but their journey around the world, and that of the Seattle, was over.
It all sounds like a tremendous story, and I was surprised that I didn't find more about it online.
