At the meeting of the Prudential Committee held yesterday your papers were approved for reappointment to the West Africa Mission on condition that the Canadian Society adopts you as their missionary. We understand from Mr. Moore, Secretary of their society that they desire to do this and want to have you come to Canada to become acquainted with them and their constituency.
I believe that we have not had a recent medical examination report from you. Our action was based on the assumption that you will have such an examination and that it will be a successful one. Although I think I have already sent you a form I enclose another one for the examination. Please let me hear from you at once in regard to this matter and also in regard to your plans, so that we may be able to make some provision for your visit to Canada and your passage to Portugal. I understand that you will go there to secure Portuguese qualifications for practice before going to Africa.
1. Names: D. Brewer Eddy - seems to be David Brewer Eddy 1877-1946. I couldn’t find any obvious connection to Mary Baker Eddy’s husband. Harold B. Belcher - I wondered if he was related to the Belchers for whom Belchertown MA was named, but didn’t find any indication of it. He got a NY Times obituary when he died at age 79 on 3/31/1971.
2. Dr. Fred Stokey; Orlando Florida
Fred was in Orlando, visiting the Woodsides, his late wife's parents. Mrs. Woodside immediately told the news to the local paper's society page editor:
