Here we have a letter that Sibyl wrote to Fred while Fred was writing a letter to Sibyl the same day. But they are still calling each other "Dear Doctor" and "Dear Miss Hosking", and signing their letters "S. Hosking" and "FES". It's so cute.

Tues. Jan. 25/27.
Dear Doctor:-
When the mail came, I was the only favoured one and I received five. Thanks fo much for the snaps, it was good of you to do so many, please let me have the bill when I see you next time. All these pictures and medicines have made you considerable extra work.
The next time you go away you had better leave everything at home. Mac has looked for the stethoscope but has not succeeded in locating it yet. My advice is that you better follow Mr. Lloyd's example and get a Jolela to follow you around to look after your property.
Oh my I wish you could see Bill now. The boy has not finished clipping him and he certainly looks queer but perhaps he is now more in keeping with your "peculiar style of beauty" than before. Even his ears have been cut, and he is just pickled with wee, black spots. I think he looks funny, he makes me feel like laughing.
Poor Esther has been feeling very miserable. More filling has fallen out and Mac has packed and repacked the cavity with cotton and creosote. This morning she remained in bed and took Aspirin and we tried Camphor-Phenol on the tooth.
We have just come in from a game of croquet, the first we have had since you went away.
Now I must answer some foreign letters which I received a long time ago. I'll be getting your reputation that she never writes letters. My pen won't make blots.
It rains everyday here, and is quite cold once more.
S. Hosking.

1.
Mac has looked for the stethoscope but has not succeeded in locating it yet.
I'm wondering if Mac is Mr. McAllester, because Mrs. McAllester's name is Esther, and an Esther is mentioned further on in the letter. The McAllesters were stationed in Sachikela, but they might be visiting Chissamba or Sibyl might be visiting Sachikela.
As for the stethoscope, it turned up not too long after this.
1927-01-28 LETTER FROM FRED TO SiBYL
I have located my stethoscope so you are exonerated.
2.
My advice is that you better follow Mr. Lloyd's example and get a Jolela to follow you around to look after your property.
Googling on Jolela got me nothing. I don't know if I spelled it right, and I don't know if Jolela is a name or a job type or what. Mr. Lloyd was a minister in Chissamba, but at the moment that's all I have on him.
3.
Oh my I wish you could see Bill now.
I think Bill must be a cat, but I don't know. I'll keep an eye out for him in other letters.
4.
Poor Esther has been feeling very miserable.
As previously noted, this might be Esther McAllester.
5.
More filling has fallen out and Mac has packed and repacked the cavity with cotton and creosote.
Wikipedia says:
Coal-tar creosote, despite its toxicity, was used as a stimulant and escharotic, as a caustic agent used to treat ulcers and malignancies, cauterize wounds, and prevent infection and decay. It was particularly used in dentistry to destroy tissues and arrest necrosis.
6.
This morning she remained in bed and took Aspirin and we tried Camphor-Phenol on the tooth.
Sibyl capitalized Aspirin. Fred wrote to Sibyl the same day
1927-01-25 LETTER FROM FRED TO SIBYL
Aspirin is a trademarked name for acetylsalicylic acid. It is non better or purer than the P.B. article and costs much more.
So I guess maybe Sibyl had been using it and asked Fred, "What exactly is it, anyway?"
7.
As for Camphor-Phenol, Consumermedsafety.org says:
Camphorated phenol is an antiseptic liquid containing camphor and phenol. These two ingredients, used in combination, are often used to treat pain and itching associated with conditions such as minor burns, cold sores, insect bites, itching skin and mild sunburn. Camphorated phenol is a liquid that must only be applied directly to the skin. Ingesting camphorated phenol can cause toxicity, especially in children.
I don't think I would want camphorated phenol on my own tooth.
8.
We have just come in from a game of croquet, the first we have had since you went away.
I mentioned the croquet to AG, and she said (or else her son Peter did, I can't remember) that there were pictures of the croquet court. They may be in stuff that I haven't yet gone through.
Mac has looked for the stethoscope but has not succeeded in locating it yet.
