I like the Fernbank gardening details from Alma. AG, who was partly raised by Alma (AG's aunt), is known in the family for being magically good with plants, so clearly Alma loved teaching both inside and outside of the classroom.
I have had another load of cinders and have been covering the water pipe. I needed you to help me - I have been doing it all myself and it is not yet finished. I have transplanted some iris and cleared out a great deal of ivy from the center of the lot. I picked some more blackberries Saturday and also trimmed the blackberries.
Did you see the eclipse of the sun? We saw it from the train. We came back from Middleboro by train after a trip to Plymouth.
1. Given that the address on the postcard is Fort McPherson, I guess they haven't found a place to live since Will was transferred to Atlanta from Cincinnati earlier in the year.
2. Did you see the eclipse of the sun? We saw it from the train. Wikipedia says A total solar eclipse occurred on September 10, 1923. …so this postcard must be from 1923.
3. Kathleen helped her little daughter Kay send a postcard with the same view, probably in the same year that Alma sent this one.
