Dear Mr. Mc. Dowell,
I am writing to announce my engagement to Miss Sibyl Hosking and to ask the Mission if you would consider our relocation, as we hope to be married perhaps this coming Fall.
I am willing to work wherever I will be of most service. I realize that when Mrs. Pryor comes there will be a nurse at Dondi. Considering this fact, and that the removal of Miss Hosking would leave Chissamba Hospital without either doctor or nurse I would be willing to be transfered to Chissamba until my furlough comes due.
Hoping this will receive your favourabl consideration,
1. This letter indicates Mr. McDowell was in a position of some authority at the Angola mission, but I don't know what that position was.
2. I would be willing to be transfered to Chissamba until my furlough comes due. I think that the missionaries got a furlough after five years in the field. I imagine that the furlough was a year, but I don't know.
3. We have three letters that Fred wrote to tell various mission people of his engagement, plus a letter that Sibyl wrote, for a total of four. Here are the four letters:
