Monday, July 30.
Dear Eva,
Your letter came today and I will try to write more promptly.
Miss Attee came Friday and has a room on the third floor near the main street I think. It is not very desirable place but as you know rooms are scarce. She takes her meals at the Ideal and at the mess. The meals are better at the Ideal than at the mess. She had a picnic out on the rocks Saturday evening, and had a good time. Miss Attee and Margaret helped made the sandwiches and she thought we couldn’t possibly eat so much but there was but one left and after we left for the cottage the children and Alma had a tea on the rocks with one sandwich, the lemonade that was left and some fruit. The children are having a great time. Even Roger climed up on that high bluff. It is fun to see them. Miss Attee was here for supper last evening. She went to Falmouth this morning and took a bus from there to Falmouth Heights. She expects Miss Geer and Nancy about the 6th of Aug. when Mr. Geer comes. They may come down before Mr. Geer comes, Miss Attee is rather restless. She has been around every place and thinks she would like Falmouth Heighs. There is more doing there, it is more of a summer resort. Having movies and +c. It is a pretty place.
The Jackson family came Saturday before noon, Mr. Jackson, Ethel, Ernest and his wife. They went bathing. They are stopping at Falmouth Heights until Monday. They all came Sunday and went bathing. Ethel took us for a ride. They have a lovely new Buick, Seven passenger Sedan.

Did Alma tell you about our trip to Falmouth last week to the Opera to hear Pinafore. Miss Turner Alma Margaret and I. We went in the bus that leaves here every hour. We all enjoyed it very much. Margaret caught on to some of the music and sings. She has a very pretty voice but needs a little instruction. There were 24 in the bus in the first trip and Alma + Miss Turner waited until they [???illegible???] the place [???] trip - there was ten in the last trip.
Wednesday afternoon
Miss Attee left this a m took the boat to Nantucket and would go to New York on the boat tomorrow p.m. The family went to see her off the a.m. and will go to meet the boat as she stops here to go on to New Bedford.
I am writing in a big hurry as I want to send with Alma. She is going with an Oberlin crowd to have a picnic.
We expect Sara Laird and Helen are now in Boston came in a Ford from Chicago. Will return by New Haven.
With lots of love,
Mother
Margaret brought a cat as she came from school. It is very exciting to all of them.

Monday, July 30.
There's no year given, but it must be 1923, because that's the only summer when Mama Margaret was at the as-yet-unnamed Fernbank. And also we have a corroborating letter from Kathleen, who was staying at Fernbank with the four children, to Will, who stayed behind in Atlanta working.
1923-08-10 LETTER FROM KATHLEEN TO WILL

So was Eva complaining that her mother wasn't writing? And where was Eva, anyway?
Miss Attee came Friday
A friend from Cincinnati.
Did Alma tell you about our trip to Falmouth last week to the Opera to hear Pinafore. Miss Turner Alma Margaret and I.
I don't know anything about Miss Turner except that she was there.
