"How Much Should We Strive for Material Things?"

Martin Luther answered the question unflinchingly in his hymn A Mighty Fortress Is Our God:

Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also.
The body they may kill,
God's truth abideth still.
His kingdom is forever.

Fred would have had a more nuanced answer.  I wish I could have heard it.
