Fourth Corps Area Staff is Altered in U.S. Army Orders
Latest army orders take from the staff at the Fourth Corps Area headquarters, by retirement, Lieutenant Colonel William P. Stokey, corps area engineer officer, of 334 Eighth street, N.E. He has received orders to proceed to his home and await retirement on August 27 after 32 years' service.
Major Gustave H. Franke, corps area publicity officer, in addition to his other duties, has taken over the duties of the corps area engineer officer.
Major R. L. Gangler, of the Organized Reserves of the Third Corps Area, who has been stationed in Washington, D. C., has been ordered transferred to Fort McPherson as ordnance officer of the Fourth Corps area. He takes the detail formerly held by Colonel Sidney Underwood, who recently requested his retirement from active duty.
Major C. C. Stapels has been ordered to transfer from the school of the line in Fort Benning, Ga., and take up his duties with the Organized Reserves of the Fourth Corps area, and is assigned to duty with the 323d infantry in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Lieutenant H. L. Boatner has been relieved from duties at the school of the line in Fort Benning, and will proceed to New York to sail September 5 for duty in China.
Captain O. S. Smith, after the completion of his duties at the school of the line at Fort Benning, is assigned for duty with the Eighth brigade, with headquarters in Fort McPherson.
Lieutenant J. R. Urquhart is ordered for duty with the 22d infantry station in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.
Lieutenant C. F. Hudson also is detailed for duty with the 22d infantry in Fort Oglethorpe.

1.
This is one of a series of newspaper and magazine items over the years about Will's work for the Army Corps of Engineers. You can find the whole list here:
WILL'S ARMY CAREER
Formerly I was putting the whole list in each of the pages of the series, but there got to be just too many to continue with that.

Lieutenant H. L. Boatner has been relieved from duties at the school of the line in Fort Benning, and will proceed to New York to sail September 5 for duty in China.
I was curious about Lt. Boatner. Wikipedia says that Haydon LeMaire Boatner did indeed go to China, and that he became fluent in Mandarin, and that he commanded troops in Burma in World War II.
