Miss Alma Stokey of South Hadley, Mass., a former professor at Mt. Holyoke College, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hicks at their home on Clement Ave. Miss Stokey is Mr. Hick's cousin.
1. The Hickses were descended from Mama Margaret's older sister Mary Provines Hicks.
I think these Hickses in Charlotte were descended from Aunt Mary's younger son John Thomas Hicks and his wife Gazella, whom Mama Margaret visited in Ionia, Michigan, in the fall of 1903 - see:
According to Barbara's genealogy, John Thomas Hicks died in 1952 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Gazella had died in 1948 in Ionia, so I guess their son was living in Charlotte, and John moved there after his wife's death. And Alma maintained contact with them.
2. Alma made this visit on her way home from visiting Eva in Atlanta. When it came to trips, Alma always tried to kill at least three birds with one stone.
