As noted in the pages for the other Biographical Register pages, Wikipedia says:
George Washington Cullum (25 February 1809 – 28 February 1892) was an American soldier, engineer and writer. He worked as the supervising engineer on the building and repair of many fortifications across the country. COLONEL WIRT ROBINSON
Wikipedia says:
Colonel Wirt Robinson (16 October 1864 – 19 January 1929) was an American army officer, naturalist, and served as a professor of chemistry, mineralogy and geology at the U. S. Military Academy. He also served briefly as a professor of military science at Harvard University. A Venezuelan opossum species Marmosa robinsoni was described from his collections and named after him.
About the opossum, Wikipedia says:
Robinson's mouse opossums move along tree branches and vines with the help of a prehensile tail and may leap between gaps as they search for fruit and insects. The species is named after Wirt Robinson, the collector of the specimen from which it was first described.
