Margaret said to tell you that I am very happy. It is so. (Margaret writes: Isn’t Will a tease?)
I spent most of the day practising as I was quite ambitious after hearing Pepito Arriola. Margaret encourages me so that I feel that I am a wonder child myself.
We are very glad to hear that you are so much better. I am very sleepy so I will have Margaret finish this in the morning.
With worlds of love and kisses,
Will
Dear Mother:
We started this Sunday evening and here it is Thursday. I have been so busy all week. Monday we had a guest. Mrs. Stannard. You may have heard Will speak of her. She lived at the Robins. Tuesday I spent all of the afternoon looking at apartments. I found some very attractive ones but, they are very expensive so we have decided not to take an apartment now. San Francisco is a very expensive place to live much more so than Los Angeles. We received your letters Monday and have read them over several times, it must be delightful to have your breakfast out of doors and how Eva will enjoy the change after spending the winter in New York I am sorry we cannot be there at the same time, we are both so disappointed that you have decided not to come west this summer.
Will may go to Los Angeles and San Diego next month for a few days on business I have decided I will not go: it’s rather expensive for a short trip and then we are very anxious to invest in real estate in or near Los Angeles so I am trying to save. You poor dear, here I am telling you of our cares. They are not real cares. It’s a pleasure to help our boy and you would be amused to see us keeping accounts of what we spend each day - it’s amazing the way little things count up.
I must send a few lines to Alma before lunch time and it’s nearly that now. I shall be busy all afternoon and tomorrow, my dear don’t bother about what kind of stationery you send. We want to hear from youoften, Will started this letter on the hotel stationery.
3. I spent most of the day practising as I was quite ambitious after hearing Pepito Arriola. Wikipedia says: José “Pepito” Rodríguez Carballeira (December 14, 1896 – October 24, 1954) was a Spanish child prodigy pianist and eventual master violinist.
3. She lived at the Robins. Will lived at the Robins hotel before he married Margaret.
4, my dear don’t bother about what kind of stationery you send. We want to hear from you often, Will started this letter on the hotel stationery. So using the hotel stationery was...um...uncouth? undignified?
