Alma always goes to such trouble for her nieces and nephews. Does she know that in Cincinnati there's another niece or nephew on the way?

South Hadley
Dec. 12-1920
Alma sent you a card saying we would go to you for a part of the Christmas vacation. I don't know what day we will go but will let you know in time. It almost seems as a surprise to me for I did not think I ought to go and had made up my mind to stay here. I thought you could all have a better time without me - you could go more places, but she says if I stay at home she will too. Of course I know she needs to get away every opportunity and I will go too.
The Choir or Carolus are going to have a rehearsal tomorrow night to which the Faculty are invited and I shall go too. They are starting out on a tour. They are going to sing in Springfield New York and Philadelphia. All the seats have been sold in New York. It is to be in a small hall - the Aeolian. They are to be there on the 21st and I think in Phila the next night. It is for the Endowment Fund that they are giving the concerts. I want to go to Holyoke tomorrow if the weather is as fine as it has been today. I want to get some things for the children. I have been waiting for Alma to go but she never seems to have any time. She and Anne went to Springfield a few days ago, and she got a few things but nothing for Billy but a toy. She got a pretty tea set for Margaret and some books. She got a doll for Kathleen at the church fair. Miss Rebbeca Smith makes them. She makes the whole doll. There is a good deal of work in making them. We saw a couple (two) that Miss Randolph had bought and Alma telephoned to Miss Smith to get one, she said she could take no more orders before Christmas so Alma was fortunate to get one at the church fair. They are called the Mary Lyon dolls as they are being sold for the Fund. They sell for $3.50 but there is a lot of work in making one. Miss Smith has been having two persons assist her. Miss Mallory is coming next Saturday and she and Anne go to Elyria on Monday. College closes on Tuesday noon. We had a good dinner today - roast beef was good. It was a great improvement over last Sunday. Harietta [???] Allyn is at the Infirmary with a case of chickenpox. It is so bad where Miss Cameron is teaching that the school has closed - she comes here soon. All the Camerons are coming for Christmas - five in all. They will have Anne's rooms, since Fred and the folks [???] are not coming. Lots of love Mother.
[Extra slip in Alma's writing:]
Be sure to let me know what you would like for Christmas.

1.
All the seats have been sold in New York. It is to be in a small hall - the Aeolian.
Wikipedia says:
The Aeolian Building is a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, at 29–33 West 42nd Street and 34 West 43rd Street, just north of Bryant Park. The 1912 building was the fourth headquarters of the Aeolian Company, which manufactured pianos and other musical instruments. the 18-story building contained the 1,100-seat Aeolian Hall (1912–1927), a top concert hall of its day. The building stands next to the Grace Building.
[...]
The concert hall closed in May 1927, with a performance by violinist Leon Goldman.
2.
I have been waiting for Alma to go but she never seems to have any time. She and Anne went to Springfield a few days ago, and she got a few things but nothing for Billy but a toy.
Anne is Anne Starr, for whom there is a Non-Family page.
3.
It is for the Endowment Fund that they are giving the concerts.
I found a brochure online for the Leadership Endowment Fund. They were trying to raise 3 million dollars, including 2 million for salary increases.
4.
They are called the Mary Lyon dolls as they are being sold for the Fund.
Mary Lyon founded the Mount Holyoke Female Seminary in 1837.
5.
Miss Mallory is coming next Saturday and she and Anne go to Elyria on Monday.
I think I read in an obituary for Anne Starr that she was originally from Elyria, Ohio.
6.
Fred and the folks [???] are not coming.
I'm not sure I read this right. But anyway, I'm guessing that as a doctor, Fred was working over Christmas.
