Below are the front and back of the only picture that I know we have of Mabel, the first wife of Fred (the middle of the Five Stokey Siblings). She is standing between her parents. I don't know when it was taken. She went from the USA to Angola in the autumn of 1910, and I imagine this picture was taken sometime before that.
Will, the oldest of the Five Stokey Siblings, took these pictures of his first wife (his fiancée at the time), Margaret, in California. On November 8, 1910, he wrote to his mother:
1910-11-08 LETTER FROM WILL TO MAMA MARGARET
This is to send some pictures of Margaret. The ones taken in the big black hat were taken Sunday morning at Westlake Park.

And here are more photographs of Margaret from Will. In the same November 8 letter he wrote,
In the afternoon we took a trolley trip to Newport about 40 miles from here and those in the smaller hat were taken there.
But is this big white hat the smaller hat that Will was talking about? And was either of these sets of pictures were taken in Newport? The clothes and the shoes in the two sets are different, so I think it's probably two different days - but Margaret cared about clothes, so I can't say for sure.

Christmastime 1917 in Cincinnati. Will and Kathleen hosted all of Will's siblings plus Mama Margaret. Will cleverly crowded all the people into the end of the porch so that they would fit into the picture. Kay (as yet unborn when this picture was taken) later identified all the people in it for her photo album for her brother Bill, who in this picture is the baby being held by Kathleen. (You can see the full photo album in the EXTRA! section.) I just wish that Will had handed the camera over to Kathleen after he took this picture so that we could have a photograph of all the Five Stokey Siblings together with their mother.
Two photographs of Will, Kathleen, Maggie, and Billy in Will's Buick.
I think these two pictures must have been taken during the same family Christmas gathering as the group picture above. Maybe Fred took these pictures. The black and white one was in Kay's birthday album for Bill:
lf you look at the album, you'll see that the picture there is considerably paler there than it is here. Both pictures were pale, but my brother-in-law Ron was able to improve them. I decided to leave the album as it was.

September 1918: Alma (sibling #2) and Eva (sibling #5) with Elizabeth Rodhouse, Oberlin Class of 1905. She's listed in Find-A-Grave as Mary Elizabeth Rodhouse Creglow, and she visited at Fernbank at least once. I don't know where this picture was taken, but I love the difference in style and demeanor between the two sisters.
