COLONEL W. P. STOKEY TO LECTURE TUESDAY
Colonel W. P. Stockey will lecture at the first meeting of the Fourth Corps Area school of applied tactics, to be held at 7:30 o’clock Tuesday night, November 9, in the Chamber of Commerce building, on the subject of military maps and map reading with their relation to commercial uses. Captain B. E. Baker, chief statistician of the Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph company, will assist Colonel Stokey in the lecture to which all officers of the army and any interested citizens are invited.
Other news items of the Fourth Corps area that were announced Wednesday by Major A. T. Colley, of the general staff, were as follos: Colonel George H. Jamerson, of the Inspector General’s office, Washington, D. C., recently arrived in Atlanta where he will remain for a few days on official business.
Major General Johnson Hagood, commander of the Fourth Corps area, has left Atlanta on a three weeks’ inspection trip. He will visit the general service schools, at Fort Leavenworth Kans., the cavalry school, at Rort Riley, Kans., and the field artillery school, at Fort Sill, Okla. Colonel J. F. Ware, profesor of military science and tactics at the University of Georgia, has been authorized to send a detachment of two officers and 20 students from the cavalry unit of the university R. O. T. C., to give exhibitions in stunt riding and cavalry drill at the Wilkes County fair, to be held in Washington, Ga., November 5 and 6.
Colonel H. S. Wagner, inspector general, Fourth Corps area, who was slightly injured Tuesday night when his car ran into a live wire on Peachtree place, was reported improving.
