1. About the timing of this application to become a member of the Mother Church in Boston...
WJ had been in America already for at least a couple of years; we have the postcards to prove it. But he didn't make his application until now. I wonder if the conversion of the Farmer family to Christian Science happened around this time in England, so that it was in the first enthusiasm of conversion to Christian Science that he attempted to make another conversion on the Channel Ferry - see:
Later thought: I'm now not so sure but what WJ discovered Christian Science in the US, and carried it to England, where the rest of the family embraced it. I need to think some more.
2. If I remember correctly, I've come across scans of Mother Church membership certificates for Kathleen's father and for her sister Ruth, but not for Kathleen. It may be that she never got around to it - see:
