Sorry, I haven't yet recorded the document.

The first page of this letter was apparently too big for an 8x11 scanner, so it was scanned in two parts. The first image (above) is my attempt to put the two halves back together using merging software, and then below there are the top half and the bottom half separately.

As usual, Annie's writing is fairly illegible to me, but she means well.

My darling Babs,
I have felt all day that there was something with you that was not usual. At first R said she would go to you then she said if I went I could stay longer. It was quite simple for me to get on the train tonight for K could stay in the school till R came home. And everything here is in order so that except the cooking so if you need me I am ready and if absolutely necessary so is R. But it is the most important time at the school - I will keep the suitcase ready so I can start next train. K was just lovely at the May festival. She just led her little boy partner + was as proficient as those who had been practising for a long time. As we came home in the car a mother of two pape girls turned back and asked R who that beautiful child was. So you see how much your daughter is admired. Well she is a most original child and thank you both for letting us have her. I am sorry indeed to hear about Mrs. Stokey. I thought she was still with you. So terrible to be stricken on a train and alone. K is so quick we certainly had to do some work to keep her engaged. So R asked Mrs. Wells + they quickly sent to invite her, also wanted to take her out. When R went i for her she was very much at home + didn't want to come in. But she is so beautifully behaved never rebells behond asking whether she may do or have things. And she [???illegible???] so nicely. We all love her so much. It's mail time and we shall be thinking about you. It would have been nice for Will tohave had you with him, but it's doubtful under the circustances whether you could do much good. Hospitals are surgical places. We only just stopped for going to the [???illegible???] He is staying down there tonight at [???illegible???] lovingly Mother

1.
This letter was in the envelope with Kathleen's May 10 letter to Will:
1924-05-10 LETTER FROM KATHLEEN TO WILL
For once the mails were quick from Savannah and I enclose letter I had this morning.
So it probably was written on May 9 rather than May 10 but never mind.
2.
It was quite simple for me to get on the train tonight for K could stay in the school till R came home.
I don't understand the tense that Annie is using, because clearly she did not get on the train.
K is Will and Kathleen's daughter Kathleen, later known as Kay - 5 years old at this time, visiting her Farmer grandparents in Savannah. R is Kathleen's older sister Ruth, who worked at the Pape School in Savannah.
3.
I am sorry indeed to hear about Mrs. Stokey. I thought she was still with you. So terrible to be stricken on a train and alone.
This little bit tells what happened more than any other letter I've seen. So Mama Margaret was on the train going from Atlanta to Canton, took sick, and got off in Cincinnati and went to see an old friend there, Miss Attee.
And it warms my heart that my great-grandmother Annie had such sympathy for my great-grandmother Margaret.
