A couple of society page items. One is run-of-the-mill, but the other left me wanting to know more.

I found these items on newspapers.com, and the one about Kathleen intrigued me:
Mrs. William P. Stokey is visiting in Montreal, Canada, and Boston.
I can understand why Kathleen would be in Boston: the Christian Science Mother Church is located there. I rather doubt that she went to Woods Hole on this trip; Fernbank probably was either closed up or rented out due to Alma being in India for the 1936-1937 school year.
But Montreal? Why did Kathleen go to Montreal? I'm wondering if the Atlanta Journal society editor was vague about Canadian geography, and if Kathleen might have passed through Montreal on the way to visit Sibyl in Ontario. Sibyl was probably in Rockwood, which is 375 miles from Montreal. Sibyl was in the hospital at this point, suffering from peritonitis. Antibiotics were not yet available, and it was becoming less and less likely that Sibyl would survive. She had written Kathleen the previous March asking Kathleen to take care of Fred's and her baby daughter, Alma Grace, if she died. So perhaps Kathleen was doing something about that. Sibyl died on November 3, 1937, and Alma Grace (later known as AG) did go down to Atlanta to live with Will and Kathleen, but I don't know the details of how or when Alma Grace was conveyed to Atlanta.
Or maybe Kathleen was in Canada for an entirely different reason.

You can see from the scan that the newspaper was in a binder. That's a reminder to me of how amazing newspapers.com is: You see the scan, i.e. a photo, but the text is searchable.
