- Will is transferred from Cuba to Savannah, Georgia. Kathleen isn't there yet, and anyway, I don't think she would have attracted his notice at this point in his life. At the end of the year he is notified of a to San Francisco, California, starting in January.
- Alma finishes her first year of teaching at Mount Holyoke College, and rents a summer house on Cape Cod for the family. It's a great success.
- Fred is studying medicine in Battle Creek Michigan, too far away for a trip to Cape Cod. But he gets engaged to Mabel, so it's a good year for him.
- Laura graduates from osteopath school, and studies for her Ohio certification exam.
- Eva gets engaged to a tenor, Frank Evans, and they are married. A fairy tale romance - for the moment.
- In England, Kathleen Farmer finishes her education at the University of London. All is set for Kathleen, her sister Ruth, and her mother Annie to move across the Atlantic to Savannah, Georgia, and be with Kathleen's father.
