This is one of three letters all written in Atlanta by Maggie (age 21), Kay (age 15), and Roger (age 13) on the same day, to their father Will, who was in Houston, Texas, hoping to strike oil on some land that he had bought.
1934-07-30 LETTER FROM MAGGIE TO WILL
1934-07-30 LETTER FROM KAY TO WILL
1934-07-30 LETTER FROM ROGER TO WILL
There is no mention of Will's wife Kathleen in any of the letters, but apparently she was in Atlanta with them. So far, I don't have a letter from Billy from this day, but he was in Atlanta, because Roger mentions him, so I don't know if he didn't write a letter or if it was that he did write a letter and it was lost.
I don't really get what Roger did for the lawn mower handle, but no doubt Will understood.

Atlanta, Ga.
Dear Daddy,
It has rained frequently this afternoon.
Fixed the lawn mower handle. It was broken the other night by Margaret. Billy tried to fix it this morning he put it on but it broke off immediately. So Roger came to the rescue. I made a handle out of a lathe like this
[drawing]
six pieces nailed together and screwed it to the mower.
At the end of the 4th inning Atlanta is leading 1-0. Lindsey is pitching for Atlanta + Scott for Knoxville. Atlanta's average is 500 and A. is in 4th Place.
So long
Roger
