There's no date on the card, so I don't know how prompt Uncle Cecil was with his thank you cards. Jessie died on October 1 - see:
I've assigned the card to November 1938 because that way I don't have to assign an exact date.
I assume that it was Kathleen who arranged for the flowers, in the name of the four children. After all, in the fall of 1938, none of the four were still at home. Roger, the youngest, was a freshman in college.
If Kathleen arranged for the flowers, how did she do it? FTD - Florists Transworld Delivery - was founded in 1910, but I doubt that Kathleen what have used it. What I'm really wondering is if Kathleen went to Pittsburgh for the funeral. She was fond of Jessie, and Cecil was her only Farmer relative left in the United States, but making the connections in the trains might have been difficult, since the train system was not consolidated. Also, I don't know if she was still taking care of Fred's daughter Alma Grace (later known as AG) at this time. So I just don't know. But if Kathleen didn't go to the funeral, how did she do the flowers?
