Prof. Alma G. Stokey, chairman of the department of botany, who will also be on leave of abesnce next year, will teach botany as a visiting professor at the Women's Christian college in Madras, India. From 1929 to 1931 Dr. Stokey taught at this school, which is affiliated with Mt. Holyoke.

The next paragraph in the article is about Ellen Deborah Ellis, who was also going on a leave of absence, to be spent in Geneva and Istanbul. Wikipedia says she founded the political science department at Mount Holyoke, and that she was in Istanbul in the 1913-1914 academic year, as the Ottoman Empire was collapsing. Nothing suggests to me that Alma was particularly acquainted with this woman, so Professor Ellis doesn't belong on this website - but gosh, doesn't she sound interesting!
