I like this letter because it gives me a glimpse of my Aunt Kay at age 12, collecting family letters. Eventually she became a reporter. And she had a great trove of family letters that was found when her daughter Kathy died, which Barbara scanned, and which started me on the path to creating this website.

Dear Kathleen,
I hear that you have been Alma’s correspondent in your family, so I am sending one of her letters to you.
I wonder if your schools have closed already. Our high school closes June 19. Then Uncle Fred and I start for Rockwood, Ontario.
Did you know that we have a young friend, age 12, Curtis McDowell living with us? His parents are missionaries in Africa. Curtis has reached the time when he must remain in this country to go to school. He seems to have been very happy here this past winter and he has done well in his studies. Next week he goes from Worcester to Chicago on the train alone. There his parent will meet him and they’ll spend the summer together. He expects to return to us about the end of August. Uncle Fred and I enjoy having him in our home. We expect he’ll go with us to Canada, the following summer when his family is away.
We shall be glad to receive a letter from you, whenever you have time to tell us about your plans for the summer etc.
Wednesday, June 10, I am going to Woods Hole to be with Eva for a few days. I hope for warm weather, so we may swim.
Please give our love to the family. I am pleased with Margaret’s picture and keep it on the table in my room.
Hoping to see you sometime soon,
Your loving Auntie Sibyl.

Alma was in India from 1929 to 1931. It's a pity that we don't (so far as I know) have the letter that Sibyl was sending to Alma.
Did you know that we have a young friend, age 12, Curtis McDowell living with us?
No mention that Curtis was black. I don’t see how it could have been done in any graceful way.
I found this letter helpful in determining Fred's location in late September 1931:
1931-10 FRED'S NARRATIVE ABOUT HIS MUSHROOM POISONING
