Canton, Ohio
Jan. 20, 1949
Dear Kathleen and Ernie:
At this time last year, I was planning to come east to attend your wedding. I'm sure it has been a very busy and happy year for you.
And now how can I tell you about those wonderful pictures. Words fail me. I am so grateful for them. Accept my sincere thanks. I think they are wonderful, and I am happy to have them.
The little "name stickers" fill a long-felt need. What thoughtful people you are!
We had a very quiet Christmas here, - Miss Redding her sister and I. We had been invited to spend the day at her brother's home, near Wooster, but the trip was too much because of the uncertainty of the weather, and therefore, of the roads.
The brother's wife is an old-time friend of Miss Florence Gould, with whom Alma and I stayed in Boston; where Ethel Jackson works.
I hope Ernie can relax somewhat, now after the bar exams.
I'll be expecting to see some of the Bulletins with the Kay column.
Again, many thanks for your gifts which mean much to me.
With love always
Aunt Laura.

1.
We had a very quiet Christmas here, - Miss Redding her sister and I. We had been invited to spend the day at her brother's home, near Wooster, but the trip was too much because of the uncertainty of the weather, and therefore, of the roads.
I don't know who Miss Redding is, but she was probably a companion/housekeeper. Google Maps tells me that Canton and Wooster are 32.6 miles apart.
2.
The brother's wife is an old-time friend of Miss Florence Gould, with whom Alma and I stayed in Boston; where Ethel Jackson works.
This detail is why this letter is in:I'm a little confused by it, because it seemed that Alma and Laura were to stay at a hotel, according to:
3.
I'll be expecting to see some of the Bulletins with the Kay column.
According the the article about the wedding, Kay was on the staff of the Providence Evening Bulletin.
4.
Again, many thanks for your gifts which mean much to me.
I assume these are Christmas presents, although Laura's 68th birthday was January 29, 1949.
