The NEXT PAGE button at the top of this page will start you off with the Table of Contents.  You can look at that and see if you want to hop off the Tour and go exploring by yourself.  After that, there will be a couple more chapter-heading-type pages before you get to the actual good stuff.  I like to over-organize stuff.  I can't help it; this whole website is really about me trying to organize stuff.  But you can skip my over-organization by going to the first picture page:

At the bottom of each page (unless I've messed up, which is always a possibility) you should find a SITE NAVIGATION section to help you to move around the website more easily.  The Grand Tour is not an irrevocable commitment!

A word about time-slices...
You will find that I have divided the century-plus that I cover into time-slices.  Time-slice is a term that I made up, because some of the periods are decades and some are eras, so I needed a word to cover them both.  Think of time as a loaf of raisin bread that has been put through one of those nifty automatic bread-slicers.  Each slice of the bread is a decade, except for the two heels of the loaf, which are the Before 1880 time-slice and the After 1979 time-slice.  And some of the time-slices have more raisins than others.
