1897
  • August 27: Sibyl Grutchfield Hosking is born in Ontario, Canada
1922
  • May 5: Sibyl graduates from the nursing school at Hamilton General Hospital in Ontario, Canada
1923
  • May 25: Sibyl is accepted by the American Mission Board (US) for service in Africa.
1924
  • Spring: Sibyl goes via England to Lisbon, Portugal, for Portugese language instruction.
1925
  • Summer: Sibyl goes from Portugal to Angola (Portuguese West Africa) to be a medical missionary in Chissamba.
1926
  • December: Sibyl has met Fred before, but now starts to get to know him better.
1927
  • May/June: Sibyl and Fred become engaged.
  • Fall: Sibyl is asked to postpone the wedding (originally scheduled for December 22) until a new medical missionary arrives in Chissamba, since Sibyl is currently the only medical missionary in Chissamba.  Also, the Woman's mission board in Canada (specifically Effie Jamieson) expresses opposition to Sibyl's engagement to Fred.
1928
  • May 30: Sibyl and Fred are married.
  • August 23: Sibyl and Fred head home, sailing from South Africa first to England.
  • November 14: Sibyl is in Ontario, giving a talk to a missionary society.
1929
  • Sometime during this year, Sibyl and Fred decide not to pursue a missionary possibility in Portugese East Africa, because Fred has a good job at Westboro Hospital in Massachusetts.
  • August: Sibyl and her parents visit Fernbank.  Fred's there briefly, but goes back to work.
1931
  • Sibyl and Fred are in loco parentis for Curtis McDowell.
  • Sibyl and Fred spend the summer in Ontario, Canada.
1932
  • Sibyl and Fred apparently visited Fernbank briefly, maybe in August.
1933
  • Spring: Sibyl and Fred drive south: some time in Georgia, where they meet Kathleen's parents.  In early June they spend some time in Florida with Mr. and Mrs. Woodside, the parents of Fred's first wife Mabel.  (Mrs. Woodside approves of Sibyl.)  The (still in June) they drive back up to Massachusetts, stopping off in Georgia to pick up Will's four kids and take them to Woods Hole, with a detour to see West Point.  Fred and Sibyl apparently spend the summer at Fernbank, with Curtis McDowell as well.  Sibyl apparently teaches Maggie to drive Alma's car.
1934
  • July: Alma mentions that Sibyl has been in Rockwood, Ontario for a couple of months, and that Fred is going up there.  Fred lost his job at Westboro Hospital at some point, not sure when (1935 maybe), and Sibyl can't work in the US, so she gets a nursing job in Canada.
1936
  • April 15: Sibyl gives birth to Alma Grace.
1937
  • January: Sibyl becomes ill.  There's a get well card from Eva somewhere.
  • Spring: Sibyl writes a letter to Kathleen asking her to take care of Alma Grace if Sibyl dies.  (I haven't seen the letter.)
  • Summer: Sibyl is home, though not fully recovered.  (This is from AG.)  It doesn't last.
  • November 3: Sibyl dies at Toronto Western Hospital
  • November 6: Funeral for Sibyl.
