This will be added to as I learn more.  Mama Margaret was active right up until the end of her life, so as I look over the documents some more, I'm sure that I'll find more details that I missed.

I plan to do timelines for all 12 major characters (5 siblings, 2 parents, and 5 spouses) on this website and maybe more, and then take the important events and put them together for an overview timeline.  So far I've done Will, Alma, Fred, Laura, Eva, Mama Margaret, Papa Charles, and Will's wife Margaret.

1844
  • August 15: Margaret Gracey Provines is born in Burgettstown Pennsylvania.
1874
  • Mama Margaret may have been teaching in Ionia, Michigan around this time...or maybe not.
  • December 23: Mama Margaret (who isn't  Mama yet) marries Charles Frederick Stokey in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
1875
  • November 3: Mama Margaret's first child, William Provines Stokey, is born at 7:30 am in Mount Union, Washington Township, Ohio.  Papa Charles reports: "A full arc Rainbow was visible in West.  Rained later that day."
1877
  • June 17: Mama Margaret's second child, Alma Gracey Stokey, is born at 1:30 pm at the southeast corner of Poplar + Wade Streets, Canton, Ohio.  Papa Charles reports: "Clear, cool day."
1879
  • August 5: Mama Margaret's third child, Fred Eicher Stokey, is born at 11:00 am at 111 East Third Street, Canton Ohio.  Papa Charles reports:"Clear, moderately warm day."
1881
  • January 29: Mama Margaret's fourth child, Laura Euphemia Stokey, is born at 4:20 pm, at 140 W. 8th St., Canton, Ohio.  Papa Charles says: "Mod. cold, Snowing; 6 ins. on ground."
1885
  • April 3 (Good Friday): Mama Margaret's fifth and last child, Eva Christine Stokey, is born at 2:30 pm, at 140 West 8th Street, Canton, Ohio.  Papa Charles reports: "Snow falling in large flakes."
​1900
  • January: Mama Margaret files for divorce from Papa Charles.  I think it is finalized near the end of the year.
1903
  • Fall: Mama Margarets visits the Hickses (Provines relatives) in Ionia, Michigan.
1904
  • August/September: Mama Margaret, Alma, Fred, and Eva move from Canton to Oberlin, Ohio.
1908
  • Mama Margaret moves to South Hadley, Massachusetts with Alma, but she also spends time with Eva in New York.
1909
  • Spring: Mama Margaret attends the funeral of her sister Mary Provines Hicks in Michigan, having arrived too late to see Mary before she died.  She visits Fred, who is attending medical school in Battle Creek, Michigan.  When she comes back to New York, Eva is engaged to Frank Evans.
  • Summer: Mama Margaret has fine time with Alma and Eva at the house that Alma rented in Truro, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod, with Frank Evans and Will visiting.
  • Fall: Preparations for Eva's wedding, which happens in October.
  • Christmas: Spent with Frank and Eva in New York, with Alma there as well.
1910
  • Summer: Mama Margaret goes for an extended visit to Laura in Ohio, living in Alliance near Canton, while Alma goes to England for the summer.
1913
  • Winter: Mama Margaret travels to California to take care of Will's motherless new daughter, Margaret (Maggie).
  • Spring: Mama Margaret brings baby Margaret back east.
  • Summer: Mama Margaret may be in Woods Hole with baby Margaret.
  • Fall: Mama Margaret lives in Washington DC with Will and baby Margaret.
1915
  • Will is transferred to Savannah, Georgia.  Mama Margaret goes with him, still taking care of baby Margaret.
  • Summer: Mama Margaret and Alma go out west for the Panama-Pacific International Pacific.  (Eva takes care of little Margaret.)  Mama Margaret returns 
1916
  • June: Will re-marries. Mama Margaret visits other children.
  • November: Mama Margaret goes to visit Will, Kathleen, and little Margaret in Cincinnati.
1917
  • April: Mama Margaret is in Cincinnati for the birth of her grandson Billy.
  • June: Mama Margaret is in Cincinnati for Fred's visit. There was a visit to Laura sometime in the first half of 1917.
  • ​Christmas: All five Stokey Siblings are in Cincinnati with Will, Kathleen, Maggie, and Billy.
1918
  • Spring: Mama Margaret visits Laura in Canton.
  • ​Thanksgiving: I think Mama Margaret was in Philadelphia with Eva.
1919
  • January: Mama Margaret goes down to Texas to visit Will, Kathleen, Maggie, Billy, and her latest granddaughter, Kathleen/Kay.
1920
  • Christmas: Mama Margaret and Alma were planning to spend at least some of Christmas vacation in Philadelphia with Eva.
1921
  • September: Eva, Alma, and Fred visit the site of the future Fernbank in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.  Maybe Mama Margaret went as well?
1923
  • Summer: Mama Margaret has a fine time in Woods Hole, at the as-yet-unchristened Fernbank.
  • Christmas: it looks as though Mama Margaret and Alma spent Christmas in Philadelphia with Eva.
1924
  • Spring: Mama Margaret visits Will and Kathleen and the grandchildren in Atlanta.
  • May 8: Mama Margaret dies in Cincinnati en route from Atlanta (Will) to Canton (Laura).  She is buried in Canton.  I believe all five of her children were at the funeral.
