1879
- August 5: Fred Eicher Stokey is born at 11:00 am at 111 East Third Street, Canton Ohio. Papa Charles reports:"Clear, moderately warm day."
- July: Fred rides his bicycle from Canton to visit his older brother Will at West Point.
- April: Fred enlists in the Army for the Spanish-American War
- August: In Montauk, New York, back from Havana Harbor, Fred gets a month's sick leave
- November 21: Fred's company is mustered out of service.
- April: Fred joins the League of American Wheelmen, a biking club
- Fred is working in a watchmaking factory. This started several years earlier, but I don't know when.
- August: Fred helps his father with an experiment to be used in a lecture, involving big knitting needles.
- December: Fred comes out the other end of some personal crisis.
- September: Fred moves from Canton to Oberlin, along with his mother and his sister Eva, and starts at Oberlin College.
- August: Fred, Will, Alma, and Eva go on a camping trip together in northern Ohio.
- This is probably the year that Fred started medical school in Battle Creek, Michigan.
- Spring: Fred becomes engaged to Mabel Woodside.
- December 29, 1909 to January 2, 1910: Fred attends a convention of aspiring missionaries in Rochester, New York, according to the Chicago Tribune.
- Fred goes to Angola as a medical missionary, and marries Mabel.
- Mabel, ill with tuberculosis, returns to the US with her mother, leaving Fred behind in Angola.
- January 15: Fred arrives back in the US, joining Mabel.
- April: Fred and Alma attend an Oberlin alumni gathering in Boston.
- Early April: Fred is in Philadelphia, visiting Eva.
- May 6: Mabel dies of tuberculosis
- June: Fred travels to Ohio, visiting Oberlin College, Will and Kathleen and his mother in Cincinnati, and Laura in Canton.
- December: Will can't get leave for Christmas because of World War I, all five of the siblings, including Fred, celebrate at Will's and Kathleen's house in Cincinnati.
- Fall: Fred, working at the Boston Homeopathic Hospital, deals with the post-World-War-I influenza epidemic.
- April: Fred helps Alma to get a pair of REALLY COMFORTABLE SHOES.
- September: Fred, Alma, and Eva visit the site of the future Fernbank in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
- June: Fred visits his late wife's parents in Florida.
- September Fred heads back to Angola for more medical missionary work.
- December: Fred starts taking an active interest in Nurse Sibyl Hosking, in Angola.
- Spring: Fred and Sibyl become engaged, and plan a December wedding.
- October: Fred and Sibyl hear from the Mission Board that things are complicated. The December wedding is delayed.
- May: Fred and Sibyl finally get married.
- Summer: Fred and Sibyl go to South Africa, then England, then, in the fall, back to America.
- Fred starts working at the Westboro Hospital. Or else he got the job in 1928.
- Fred accidentally eats some poisonous mushrooms. Full recovery.
- Sibyl and Fred go down to Florida to see Mabel's parents, and on the way back drive Will's four children up to Woods Hole.
- Fred is let go from the Westboro Hospital. (I'm not sure exactly when this happened.)
- Fred applies for a patent for a telescopic rifle sight.
- April: Fred's and Sibyl's daughter Alma Grace is born.
- Fall: Fred's patent is approved.
- Fred's wife Sibyl becomes ill with peritonitis in January, and eventually dies in November.
- Fred gets a gaugemaker job at the Springfield Armory.
- January: Will's younger daughter Kathleen is married in Cambridge. Fred, Alma, Laura, and Eva attend.
- July 14: Fred dies. (I need to check the date.)
