GEORGE S. GREEN FUNERAL TO BE IN MIAMI BEACH, FLA.
Funeral services for George Stilwell Green of Miami Beach, Fla., formerly of St. Louis and for many years an officer of the old A. B. Bushnell Seed Co. here, will be this afternoon in Miami Beach. The body will be brought here for burial, and there will be a graveside service at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Mr. Green, 87 years old, died in Miami Beach Friday of infirmities of age. He had lived for the past several years there and also had a home in Woods Hole, Mass. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Gladys M. Green.
1. I figure Glady gave the necessary information to the funeral home in Miami Beach, and asked them to send it along to the Post-Dispatch, but of course I don't know.
2. The body will be brought here for burial, and there will be a graveside service at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Bellefontaine Cemetery was where Daddy Green's wife, Glady's mother, was buried.
3. Mr. Green, 87 years old, died in Miami Beach Friday of infirmities of age. March 18, 1951 (the date of this item) was a Sunday, so Daddy Green died on Friday, March 16, 1951. I figure "infirmities of age" is the sort of phrase that would roll smoothly off of a funeral director's tongue in the 1950s. Aunt Erna nursed Daddy Green in his final days - or years, perhaps - and she would have known exactly what the infirmities were.
