1950
  • December 17: Will dies.  Eva stays on in Atlanta, moving at some point into an apartment, and driving up to Woods Hole in the summertime.

  • Alma goes to Jamaica for botany, for at least the second time.
1955
  • Alma gets an honorary doctorate from Oberlin.
1956​
  • Alma starts a trip around the world with Gladys Green.
  • July 14: Fred dies.
1957​
  • Alma finishes her trip around the world with Gladys Green.
1958
  • Spring: Alma visits Eva in Atlanta, and visits Hicks cousins (related via Mama Margaret) in Charlotte, North Carolina, on the way home.
  • Summer: Eva and Alma are in Woods Hole.
  • Christmas: Alma is in Wayland, Massachusetts with her nephew Roger and his family.  Clara Jones and AG are also there.  I think Eva is in Atlanta.
​1959
  • Alma spends the winter and spring in Hawaii with Geoffroy and Lenette Atkinson and also Clara Jones.
  • Summer: Eva is in Woods Hole for the summer.  Alma too, I assume.
