This article makes the wedding sound as though it was carefully planned months in advance. In fact, Roger (my father) arrived in New York on leave from the Navy on Thursday evening, May 6. He called Edie (my mother) to tell her he was there and heading for Mansfield. She said, "How does Monday night sound?" The family joke is that Roger wasn't sure if Edie was talking about getting married or about playing bridge (since, years later, Monday was their regular bridge night), but either option was fine with him, so he agreed to it, no questions asked.

Miss Edith Robinson weds Lt. (jg) Roger P. Stokey
MANSFIELD, Mass. --- Mr. and Mrs. Everett William Robinson, of Mansfield, announce the marriage of their daughter, Edith, to Lieutenant (j.g.) Roger Provines Stokey, U. S. N. R., son of Colonel William Provines Stokey, of Atlanta, and the late Mrs. Stokey. The ceremony was performed May 10 in the Congregational Church, Mansfield, by the Rev. Lester G. Myers.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a cream-colored satin wedding gown fashioned with a high neck, long sleeves and a full skirt that formed a train. The dress was trimmed with a bertha collar and wide cuffs of rose point lace belonging to the bride's grandmother. Her wedding veil was of cream tulle, and she carried a bouquet of gardenias and baby's breath.
Miss Virginia Shaw, of Mansfield, was maid of honor and only attendant. She wore an aquamarine faille gown, designed with a full skirt of matching marquisette. Her bouquet was of Talisman roses. Lieutenant (j. g.) Francis Ryder, of Cambridge, Mass., cousin of the bride, served as best man.
Following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson entertained at a wedding reception in their home, 15 West Street, Mansfield. The guests included the bridegroom's father, Colonel Stokey, who came from Atlanta for the ceremony.
Mrs. Stokey expects to graduate from Radcliffe College this month. Lieutenant Stokey is a graduate of Boys' High School in Atlanta, and Harvard University, class of 1942. For the past year he has been on active duty with the Navy.

1.
Lieutenant (j. g.) Francis Ryder, of Cambridge, Mass., cousin of the bride, served as best man.
Cousin Francis was indeed a cousin, though a distant one. His wife, Cousin Dorothy, was a nearer cousin. They and their two little daughters drove Roger and Edie to a hotel in Boston (the Copley Plaza, maybe?) after the reception.

The guests included the bridegroom's father, Colonel Stokey, who came from Atlanta for the ceremony.
Fred's daughter AG remembers the wedding. She, Alma, and Fred drove from South Hadley to Mansfield for it. I said to AG, "You didn't take the train? I mean, gas was being rationed because of the war." AG said that her father always had enough gas to get wherever he was going, because he drove five people to work and they gave him all their gas coupons.
Roger's sister Kay was also there, because she was living with Edie's parents at the time.
3.
I have newspaper items for the weddings of three of the four siblings: Bill, Kay, and Roger. I've looked around for something about Maggie's and Al Bruchas's wedding, but so far found nothing. What I have is:
