1. There will be a meeting of the Four College Genetics conference Wednesday evening in Hooker auditorium at MOUNT HOLYOKE college. Alma had retired from Mount Holyoke the year before, and I think she was teaching at Smith during this academic year. So being involved in the Four College Genetics conference makes sense, though for all I know, Smith wasn't one of the colleges in the conference.
2. Miss Alma G. Stokey will speak on "The Gametophyte of the Ferns." Google AI says: A gametophyte is the sexual, haploid phase in the life cycle of plants and algae. It develops from a haploid spore and is responsible for producing male and female gametes (sperm and egg) through mitosis. These gametes later fuse during fertilization to begin the next generation.
3. Miss Marion Kingston, '43 will lead the evening worship service at MOUNT HOLYOKE college Wednesday evening at 9.30 in Abbey chapel. Marion Kingston was a senior at Mount Holyoke. Wikipedia says: Marion Kingston Stocking (June 4, 1922 – May 12, 2009) was an American literary scholar, educator, editor, book reviewer, advocate for the arts, memoirist, and environmentalist whose career spanned six decades. She was best known as editor of Beloit Poetry Journal and as a scholar of the Romantic period, specifically the circle of writers and thinkers associated with poets Percy Bysshe Shelley and Lord Byron.
