It surprises me to see Roger making Eagle Scout at this late date. He was about to enter his junior year at Harvard, and I don't think he was involved in Scouting at Harvard. He was in Naval ROTC, so I imagine he spent the summer on ROTC duty somewhere. Maybe he got a couple weeks off at the end of the summer before going back to school, and maybe this was the culmination of something left over from previous years? I don't know.
I'm adding this to Will's documents on the flimsy pretext that Kathleen is referred to as "Mrs. W. P. Stokey".
