When I was growing up, I took piano and my brother took a couple of horn-type instruments and later violin. I do not think my father, Roger, ever once mentioned that he had studied violin.
Also, I'm sure I've seen an article about Billy winning a prize for his piano playing. So now I have to go look for it again.

This wasn't the first time the musical Stokeys were in The Atlanta Journal. See:

We have what I think is a print of this picture, but printed backwards. You can find it in the pictures for 1930-1939, and also in the pictures for The Next Generation. I look back and forth between the two pictures and can find no difference except that one is backwards. I think the newspaper has it correctly because surely Billy and Roger were holding the violin bows in their right hands. (I know that Roger, my father, was right-handed. I can't remember about Uncle Bill.)
