1930

Will, retired, is promoted from his retirement rank of lieutenant-colonel to the rank of colonel. I think it was an act of congress for everybody.
Summer: Eva is in Philadelphia, apparently, supervising the renting out of Fernbank while Alma is in India.

1931

May to July: Alma, having left India, works in the Foreigners’ Laboratory at Buitenzorg in West Java in Indonesia.
Summer: Fred and Sibyl are in Ontario. Eva is in Woods Hole.
September: Fred accidentally eats some poisonous mushrooms. Full recovery.
Sometime in the fall: Kathleen visits Savannah for a week with Maggie. Also sometime in the fall, Eva apparently visits Alma in South Hadley.
October: Alma stops off in Atlanta on her way to and/or from somewhere.
December: Alma stops off in Atlanta again on her way to and/or from somewhere.

1932

January: Alma visits the Atlanta Stokeys. On her way home from Christmas someplace?
August: Kathleen visits Savannah with Kay and Roger.
Christmas: Alma is in Philadelphia, presumably with Eva. Will, Kathleen, and the kids are in Atlanta, then Kathleen goes to Savannah from December 27 until January 2.

1933

April: Kathleen goes to Savannah to help with her father, who is sick. I think that from now until after his death in September, Kathleen is rarely at home in Atlanta.
June: Alma has a car in Woods Hole - apparently a new purchase? Eva learns to drive it.
June: Sibyl and Fred go down to Florida to see Mabel's parents, and on the way back drive Will's four children up to Woods Hole.

1934

Will spends a few month in Texas pursuing, in vain, oil possibilities. Kathleen is at home in Atlanta.
June 22: Eva goes to Fernbank.
July: Alma is at Fernbank Alma mentions in a letter that Sibyl has been in Rockwood, Ontario for a couple of months, and that Fred is going up there.
August: Alma rents out Fernbank, and Alma and Eva go on a road trip. First to western Pennsylvania, where they see Provines relatives, and where Laura comes from Ohio to meet them. Then to Ohio with Laura, to see friends and more Provines relatives, and Gracey relatives.
After Christmas, maybe: Ruth is sick in Savannah, so Kathleen goes there to help.

1935

Fred is let go from the Westboro Hospital. (I'm not sure exactly when this happened.)
May: Maggie graduates from Agnes Scott College.
June: Fred applies for a patent for a telescopic rifle sight.
July 17: Ruth dies. Kathleen's mother Annie comes to live with Atlanta Stokeys sometime after that - no exact date.
October (early): The Atlanta Stokeys move from Eighth Street to 624 Rockmont Drive in Atlanta.

1936

January: Cousin Gazella Hicks, a Provines relative in Michigan, notes in letter to Alma that Laura is having health issues
April 15: Fred's and Sibyl's daughter Alma Grace is born.
April 22: Kathleen's mother, Annie Farmer, dies.
June: Kay graduates from high school.
Summer: Eva spends time in South Hadley and then Woods Hole.
Alma goes back to India.
Fall: Fred's patent is approved.

1937

January: Fred's wife Sibyl becomes ill with peritonitis.
Alma leaves India, and spends some time at the Foreigners’ Laboratory at Buitenzorg in West Java in Indonesia before coming home.
Summer: Sibyl is home from the hospital, although not fully recovered.
Late August: Kathleen is in Montreal, according to the paper.
November 3: Fred's wife Sibyl dies, and Will and Kathleen take care of Fred's and Sibyl's daughter Alma Grace in Atlanta for a while.

1938

1939

All four of Will's and Kathleen's children, now grown up, come home to Atlanta for Christmas.
