Fred and Sibyl are headed home to America, by way of England. This cruise might have seemed like a second honeymoon for them, except that I think Sibyl suffered badly from seasickness.

1.
There is nothing on these programs that says anything about Fred and Sibyl. The programs were in AG's boxes of stuff about her parents, so it is clear that Fred and Sibyl were on this sailing, heading home to America via England, and these programs gave them pleasure. Every time I go through all the documents that I have uploaded to this website, I have felt the transition of Fred and Sibyl from Africa to America seems too abrupt - "Oh, when did they get back? Nobody told me." So I am attempting to fill the gap with these programs.

R.M.M.V. "Carnarvon Castle."
Wikipedia says:
MV Carnarvon Castle was an ocean liner of the Union-Castle Line. She was requisitioned for service as an auxiliary cruiser by the Royal Navy during the Second World War.
and:
Carnarvon Castle was built by Harland and Wolff, Belfast and launched on 14 January 1926. She was completed on 26 June 1926 and entered service for the Union-Castle Line. She was named after Caernarfon Castle. She was the first of the Union-Castle mail ships to exceed 20,000 tons and was the first motor ship to be used on the sailings between Britain and the Cape of Good Hope.

Commander---
W. F. STANLEY, R.D., R.N.R.
Google didn't give me anything about WF Stanley, but here's what Wikipedia had on the RD and the RNR:
The Decoration for Officers of the Royal Naval Reserve, commonly known as the Reserve Decoration (RD) was a medal awarded to officers with at least fifteen years service in the Royal Naval Reserve (RNR) of the United Kingdom. The medal was instituted in 1908.
4.
Thursday Aug. 30th Cricket Match, 1st v. 2nd 2.30 p.m.
I googled "How do you play cricket on a ship?" and got an article from 2011 about a cricket match played on a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) ship. It didn't help me to understand how cricket might be played on a Not So Large Passenger (NSLP) ship.
5.
ADULTS SPORTS.
I googled "chalking the pig's eye" and found:
https://pastimpressionsblog.wordpress.com/2017/08/08/the-games-people-played/
...whose writer has a collection of postcards from the Union Castle company showing people playing games on their ships. Chalking The Pig's Eye was like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, and Cock Fighting did not involve cocks fighting, I am happy to say.
