Is Alma envious of her friend who is about to go around the world? Or does Alma already have an idea that she'll be going to India next year?

Miss Alma Stokey is at the Hinsdale Home, "Garden House," on Wright Place. Miss Stokey returned from Woods Hole with Prof. Ellen Hinsdale and sister, Miss Mildred Hinsdale of Ann Harbor, Mich., on Friday. Professor Hinsdale leaves next week for the west and later for a trip to Japan. She plans to complete the trip around the world before returning east.

Miss Stokey returned from Woods Hole with Prof. Ellen Hinsdale and sister, Miss Mildred Hinsdale of Ann Harbor, Mich., on Friday.

This small note comes across to me as sort of parochial. Whoever wrote it didn't know that it's Ann Arbor, not Ann Harbor. Also, I got a little confused when I first read it:
She plans to complete the trip around the world before returning east.
When Miss Hinsdale returns to Massachusetts, she'll be returning from the east, rather than returning east, because she's traveling westward around the world...but whoever wrote the note may have had trouble grasping that.
