Dear Grandmother,
We are now in Atlanta. We go to Sunday sunday school, Roger goes to. We have a black and white cat. We have 69 chickens. For my birthday daddy gave me three bantam chickens Two hens and one rooster. I miss swiming very much. Grandma is staying with us. We will go to her house for Christmas.

P.S. I am going to Tenth street school. My teacher is named Mrs. Pennington. The number of our house is 174 East 8th street. Please come and see us soon.

Grandmother was Mama Margaret, Maggie's paternal grandmother. Grandma was Annie Farmer, Maggie's maternal step-grandmother (Kathleen's mother).

We have 69 chickens.
Wow!

For my birthday daddy gave me three bantam chickens Two hens and one rooster.
Maggie turned 11 on November 7, 1923.

I miss swiming very much.
Kathleen and the four kids had been at the as-yet-unnamed Fernbank during the previous summer.

Grandma is staying with us. We will go to her house for Christmas.
Grandma's house was in Savannah. Now that Will was stationed in Atlanta, going there for Christmas was not such a trek as it was from Cincinnati. More about Christmas in Savannah:

The number of our house is 174 East 8th street.
So they haven't yet moved to the house at 334 Eighth Street that they bought in September:
