A cutting at the top:
Lieutenant Colonel W. C. Lemen, after spending some time with his daughter, Mrs. Alvin Howe, has returned to New York.
The letter:
510 Bolton St., East,
Savannah, Ga.
Friday
Will dear,
What is the matter with you that you do not write. At first I was disappointed - very - not to hear from you, now I am wondering if there is something wrong? If maybe you have been away on a trip but even then I should think you could find time to write and I cannot think why you do not write.
I was so pleased today when the Express Co wagon stopped for I thought it was the pen, but no!
This afternoon Miss Alsina took the family for a ride. It was very enjoyable. She has a seven passenger Reo - has had it three years + never had any engine trouble, has just got her second set of tyres.
Margaret likes the school very much.
I send you a cutting about Mr. Lemen.
I am watching the Baseball Returns - Hope Cincinnati is going to win. I wonder whether you are seeing any of the games.
I had a very nice letter from Mrs. Morrison this week.
We are all well. The children all have good appetites, specially Bill. I talk to them about Daddy + they have no chance of forgetting him.
We have been eating some of the chocolates tonight. They are very good. It pleased me very much that you bought them. Dear boy, you are my dearest possession, + when you do thoughtful things for me it makes me very happy - when you forget to write + so on it makes me very unhappy. Well, I must run to mail + hope that tomorrow there will be a letter from you.
How about a house?
Much love from us all -
Kathleen
Do you remember to send A+N journal to your Mother. If you send me some I will send them on to her.

1.
I was so pleased today when the Express Co wagon stopped for I thought it was the pen, but no!
Will has, in fact, already sent baby Kay's pen to Kathleen, but she hasn't received it yet - see
2.
This afternoon Miss Alsina took the family for a ride. It was very enjoyable. She has a seven passenger Reo - has had it three years + never had any engine trouble, has just got her second set of tyres.
This is mean of Kathleen, given that we keep hearing about Will having to work on his Buick. I'm sure it made him laugh. And I daresay Miss Alsina had somebody to work on the Reo for her.
3.
The children all have good appetites, specially Bill.
Huh? It would be many years before anybody called Will's and Kathleen's elder son anything but Billy.
4.
Do you remember to send A+N journal to your Mother. If you send me some I will send them on to her.
A+N must mean Army and Navy. The Stokeys read it carefully when Will was in the Philippines, but now that he's at home and unlikely to go overseas again, I'm surprised that Mama Margaret still takes an interest in it.
