I'm glad that Will didn't have to leave for Texas until after his son Billy's first birthday (April 19, 1918).

TRANSFERRED TO TEXAS.
Chief of Cincinnati and Louisville Engineering Districts To Go.
Colonel William P. Stokey, officer in charge of Cincinnati District No. 3 and Louisville (Ky.) District, Corps of Engineers, yesterday received orders to proceed to San Antonio, Texas, for duty at Ft. Sam Houston as Department Engineer, Southern Department, United States Army, to relieve Major R. C. Kuldell.
Colonel Stokey is to be succeeded as engineer in charge of the Cincinnati district April 22 by Captain B. F. Thomas, Cincinnati, Assistant Engineer, and as engineer in charge of the Louisville District April 23, by Captain W. H. McAlpine, Louisville, Ky., Assistant Engineer.
Captain Thomas has been Assistant Engineer in the Cincinnati district approximately 20 years, and is one of the best-known civil engineers in this section of the country. He had personal supervision of the construction of locks and dams built by the Government in the Muskingum, Kentucky, and Big Sandy Rivers.
Colonel Stokey came to Cincinnati in July, 1916, to assume charge of the Second District. He will leave for Texas about April 25.
