Dearest Billy,
I was very glad to have your letter this morning and know where you were. Am glad I did not send the collars to Columbus as you were there on Sunday + so probably would not have had them. I sent a letter there.
I hope you will be coming home soon. It seems very lonesome at nights. Billy has been a good boy every night, but he was somewhat fretty yesterday. He is sleeping well today.
Margaret is well. Nancy’s Aunt wanted her to go over this morning, but when Bessie called her to come in + get ready she would not come so I hardened my heart + when she did come told her why she was wanted + that she could not go because she had not come when she was called. She was somewhat heartbroken and wept. I gave her a reading lesson yesterday + was pleased to find that she remembered a great deal. Am going to give her another today if possible.
I have been busy having the screens put up. Never having had to do such a thing before I did not have them labeled when they were taken down in the fall and we have had a task fitting them to the right windows. Bessie’s intelligence alone did not seem able to manage it, so I had to add mine and now they are very nearly all up.
I rang Mr. Parker up just now and told him your whereabouts.
I had a letter from Mother this morning. Jessie + Cecil want us to go over with the children, but if you are not going to have any leave we shall have to wait.
Your mother thinks Fred may come tomorrow, so on that account also I hope you will soon be back. I am going to try + make them go out. It would do your Mother good to get out of doors I think.
I slept yesterday afternoon for nearly two hours + am drinking milk, so reward me by writing.
Lunch is nearly ready so I must go and get Margaret. It is a lovely day.

Sunday would have been June 3, and this letter is dated and postmarked June 4. I'm a little confused by this, but never mind. Anyway, here's where Will asked for the collars:

Kathleen never dealt with screens in Savannah? Maybe they never took the screens down in the fall in Savannah, so they never to deal with putting them up again in the spring.

I think the Parkers get other mentions, but they don't stick in my mind.

I had a letter from Mother this morning. Jessie + Cecil want us to go over with the children, but if you are not going to have any leave we shall have to wait.
Cecil is, of course, Kathleen's brother, and Jessie is his wife. They lived in the Pittsburgh area, so it wouldn't be just a day trip to go over to see them.

Mama Margaret was staying with Will and Kathleen. Fred, whose wife Mabel had died the previous month, was coming to Ohio to visit Will and Kathleen and others.
