Are you not the happiest thing that ever was. I am so delighted to have a nephew + Will must be very pleased with a son. Give the darling a big kiss from his Aunt Ruthie who loves him already + get Mother to tell me all about him. The basket was the right color after all.
Mind you get strong + well + have a good rest.
All the love + blessing possible rest on you + the dear Baby.
1. There is no date on the letter. I think it was probably tucked into the envelope with the letter from Ruth's and Kathleen's father: 1917-04-19 LETTER FROM WJ FARMER TO KATHLEEN
2. get Mother to tell me all about him. That's nice of Ruthie, not asking Kathleen to do the writing.
3. The basket was the right color after all. Apparently Ruthie chose a basket of a gender-associated color. I googled briefly, and didn't get a satisfactory answer as to what that color would have been in 1917. Anyway, it sounds as though Ruthie was hoping for a boy.
