I think Mabel came back to the US in late 1914. Fred stayed behind in Africa.

Missionary Personals.
Rev. and Mrs. Charles N. Ransom recently visited the Board rooms, and report a delightful summer in Vermont, with improved health as a result. They are now located at Dr. White's Bible School in New York, 541 Lexington Avenue. We note the arrival some time ago of Mrs. Fred E. Stokey of the West Central Africa Mission. Mrs. Stokey, formerly Mabel Woodside, has come to the United States accompanied by her mother, Mrs. T. W. Woodside, for medical treatment and is at present at Liberty, N. Y.

A journal published by the Woman's Board of Missions, an organization focusing on the work of women missions and missionaries.

It sounds as though Mabel was at the Loomis Memorial Sanitarium for Consumptives, which opened in 1896. Later on, Mabel, Fred, and her mother lived near Alma in Massachusetts.

Fred himself isn't mentioned in this note, but since Mabel is referred to as "Mrs. Fred E. Stokey", I'm including it in his list of related documents.
