​My dear Sweetheart:

Your one page letter written in the boat, received early this morning, it was a surprise, I did not think I would get a letter today.

mailed a letter to Tahoma for you.  it would probably get there late Tuesday - mailed it Monday night.

went down town yesterday and cashed the checks.  Mrs. Patterson did not endorse the heat + light check properly, so I had to make two trips, on the way home on the last trip, saw some ties on sale for fifty five cents reduced from one dollar, bought three for my kiddie, they are very nice, one blue, one green and one purple, pressed and cleaned all of your old ties, too.

Went to church last night - could hardly keep back the tears during the meeting, paid my dues for two months.

On the way out met Mrs. Eicholtz from L.A. she is the lady that makes the delicious salt rising bread - she will be here about four weeks and has promised to show me how to make bread - certainly was surprised to see her.  

Took Josie to a picture show after church.  the five cent show on the way home, went to the fish market and retired at twelve o’clock - had breakfast this morning a little after eight.

Cried for my kiddie before I went to sleep.  I am getting awfully lonesome, dear.

Hope you are having a nice time and good things to eat and missing your mother and guest.

The envelope was addressed to Will in Knights Landing, California.  Wikipedia says:
Knights Landing (formerly Baltimore and East Grafton) is a census-designated place in Yolo County, California, United States, founded by William Knight. It is located on the Sacramento River around 25 miles northwest of Sacramento in the northeastern portion of the county.

mailed a letter to Tahoma for you.
It looks like Lehoma to me, but I can't find anything that makes more sense than Tahoma.  And I'm just a bit doubtful about Tahoma.

Margaret's efforts to become a good homemaker for Will, after having been a milliner living in a boarding house, are heartwarming to me.

I puzzled and puzzled over the "Took Josie" part, and it wasn't until after I looked at the second letter of the day that I realized, "Oh, it's Josie!" Josie was the maid, apparently.

I asked Google (ungrammatically; I can hear my mother's voice in my head now), "did mothers used to call the baby they were pregnant with a guest" and Google AI said yup, it was a polite euphemism.
