Lieut. Charles T. Leeds today once more assumed charge of the United States engineer's office for this district, which takes in the entire Southwestern coast from the Mexican line to San Luis Obispo, and the interior, including the entire Colorado river basin.
He relieved Capt. W. P. Stokey, who was sent here temporarily by the war department when Lieutenant Leeds was compelled to take sick leave last summer.
Captain Stokey will return tomorrow to San Francisco, where his regular detail is in connection with the work of the California debris commission.
