1.
The exercises were opened with a musical solo by Miss Eva Stokey, from Gounod's "Sapho."
When I first read this, I thought, "Gounod for kindergarteners?" but then I realized that the graduation was for teachers of kindergarten.
2.
After a prayer and another musical selection the commencement address, "Education by Images," was delivered by Prof. Charles H. A. Wager of the college faculty.
I wondered if "Wager" was a typo, but no, it wasn't. He was Charles Henry Adams Wager 1869-1939, and he taught English at Oberlin.
