Lottie was ten when she wrote this postcard. I love the care with which she wrote it - such neat, pretty handwriting, and the correct use of the word "shall".

1.
Lottie was Charlotte Mary Farmer 1893-1982). Her father was Arthur Farmer. Arthur was a brother of William James Farmer, who was the father of Ruth, Cecil, and Kathleen. So Lottie was Ruth's cousin.
2.
The picture on the postcard says Prittlewell, which is 3 miles from Leigh-on-Sea. Leigh-on-Sea is where the postcard was mailed, and where several Farmers lived.
3.
We shall arrive
I figure the "We" was Lottie, her parents, and her siblings, but who knows?
4.
at Leytonstone
Google tells me that Leytonstone is 1.4 miles from Wanstead, where Kathleen and her family were living.

It's much easier when the day of the month is greater than 12 so that it's obvious which way to read the date. December 22, 1903 was a Tuesday, so Lottie et al would be arriving on Christmas Eve. So they were planning a big Farmer family Christmas?
