Here's a note about Will assignment to the Philippines, about 7 months after the assignment first was done, and in a newspaper for a city about 50 miles away from Canton. I wonder why. But never mind, it's always good to see a newspaper item relating to something in the letters that we have.

Lieut. William P. Stokey, C.E., of Canton, has been made engineer officer of the department of Luzon, in the Philippines.

I guess C.E. stands for Corps of Engineers, but I don't know for sure.
