READING CIRCLE.

An Interesting Program For a Meeting to Be Held in April.

The Canton Teachers' Reading Circle will close the season on Wednesday evening, April 19, with an elaborate and interesting program.  The meetings during the winter have all been very interesting, instructive and largely attended by the teachers of the city schools.  The executive committee has prepared the following program for the closing meeting:

Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel or Froebel (German: [ˈfʁiːdʁɪç ˈvɪlhɛlm ˈʔaʊɡʊst ˈfʁøːbl̩] ⓘ; 21 April 1782 – 21 June 1852) was a German pedagogue, a student of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, who laid the foundation for modern education based on the recognition that children have unique needs and capabilities. He created the concept of the kindergarten and coined the word, which soon entered the English language as well. He also developed the educational toys known as Froebel gifts.

This must be Alma, because Laura and Eva are too young - Laura is 16 years old and Eva turns 12 on April 3.  How odd to see Alma speaking in public about something other than botany and India!
