1. I wanted to have something for 1894 in the Document Library. For the moment this was all I could find, and I hesitated to include something with so small a reference to Papa Charles. But when I looked for something about the encampment, I learned that the GAR, in its heyday, was very much involved in politics, so this list shows Papa Charles involved in a what was a big deal in Canton. William McKinley, a Canton native, was the governor of Ohio at this time. I assume that that's why the encampment was held in Canton.
2. A lot of the names in the list are mentioned more than once, with people serving multiple functions. Here is Papa Charles: Buildings and Privileges---Joseph A. Bour, George A. Spangler, Charles Bechet, John M. Wells, Charles C. Kimble, C. F. Stokey.
3. Many names in the list sound familiar to me, including Fawcett, McCarty, and Welty, who were later involved in the divorce case of Mama Margaret and Papa Charles - see the notes for
John C. Dueber was involved. I figure he was associated with the Dueber Watch Company, where Fred later worked.
Also, there is: Information---J. F. Nusz, Colonel J. J. Clark, A. D. Braden, J. B. Dervees, O. F. Clouser, J. W. Foulke, H. F. Sponselier, A. L. Brenner, L. K. Hurford, George Rex, J. R. Mathews, Thomas Keifer, D. B. Day. A.D. Braden must have been Andrew Braden, a friend and neighbor of the Stokeys. The Bradens have a Non-Family page in this website.
4. I listened to a video about the GAR, and got the impression that the 1913 Gettysburg Reunion was a larger (very much larger) version of the GAR encampments. Will was 18 years old when the Canton encampment was going on, and later assisted at the 1913 event. See:
